MySpace Founders Request an Outrageous $50M for Renewed Contracts

June 26, 2007 — 07:05 PM PDT — by Kristen Nicole

MySpace founders Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson have reportedly made a hefty request with their compensation proposal to Rupert Murdoch, owner of MySpace’s parent company News Corp.

Their contract is up in October, and they’ve asked Peter Chernin and Murdoch for a two-year deal at $50 million, which breaks down to $12.5 million a piece, per year. In addition, DeWolfe and Anderson are requesting a development fund with $15 million in order to invest in Internet companies. The salary request is rather bold considering the positions of DeWolfe and Anderson, especially in relation to most CEOs of fortune 500 companies, and MySpace’s own position within the News Corp. umbrella. Granting their wishes would upset a lot of people, both inside and outside News Corp., regardless of MySpace’s dominance in the social networking sphere.

This sounds like the MySpace founders are trying to accumulate as much cash as they can during the peak of MySpace, to some extent. Between the acquisition of InterMix onto NewsCorp, perhaps DeWolfe and Anderson may be looking to gain more money considering the amount they received after selling MySpace in the first place. Where does this leave DeWolfe and Anderson? Murdoch has reportedly countered their request with an offer $15 million each over two years, which is far less than their initial request, but far more than most executives within News Corp. Perhaps the MySpace founders should take Murdoch’s deal; who else will offer them that much?

Tyler Perry Launches His Own Internet TV Channel

posted on Sep 11, 2007

Tyler Perry, producer, writer, actor, director, artist and philanthropist, now takes on the role of TV channel owner. Perry, widely known for redefining the traditional Hollywood model, will add a new portal to reach his fans--an online TV channel featuring his own content, powered by Narrowstep's technology, telvOS.

The 24-hour channel, TPTV, will be available through Tyler Perry's website, http://www.tylerperry.com. At launch, TPTV will offer fans exclusive access to Perry's new and exclusive to the Internet talk show The Tyler Perry Show--in high-quality and full-screen on the pc.

"Part of being an artist is learning how to engage and empower my audience--my fans--with my art," said Perry. "My art is an extension of my life. I knew I wanted to create, tailor and build an Internet TV channel as a part of that extension. So, I partnered with Narrowstep, a company with the technology and commitment to quality, to do just that."

TPTV is the first project resulting from the recently announced partnership between Narrowstep and the William Morris Agency (WMA), which represents Perry. Narrowstep and WMA are working together to develop broadband-based celebrity TV channels for the agency's clients that will offer fans hours of high-quality original content and the best viewing experience available of their favorite celebrities on the Internet.

"Our continued investment in the Narrowstep platform has enabled us to launch our first celebrity-driven TV on the Internet channel," said David C. McCourt, Chairman and CEO of Narrowstep. "The Narrowstep solution allows professional producers like Tyler to deliver their work at the highest quality levels and to monetize their content using our tools. Tyler's Internet TV channel will undoubtedly surprise, excite and inspire audiences and provides the perfect platform to experience his larger than life characters."

Perry said his objective with TPTV is to share his story with as many people as possible and motivate others with his extraordinary climb to the top. Perry came from poverty, growing up in New Orleans, in a world of abuse and dejection. However, he took his pain and turned it into inspiration for his art. He said TPTV will inspire others to follow in his footsteps on a path to success.

you flirt
DATE: 01/20/2008 00:57:28 / MOOD: sexy

YEAH YOUR A FLIRT  ,youmay say your not . But then there are  a great deal  of you that do. You know who you are.  My point is, once you move into the verbal phase of flirtation, it's pretty much all intentional.

And there are some schools of thought that teach there's nothing wrong with that. Flirtation is a game we play, a dance for which everyone knows the moves. "People can flirt outrageously without intending anything," says independent sex researcher Timothy Perper, who has been researching flirting for 30 years. "Flirting captures the interest of the other person and says 'Would you like to play?'" And one of the most exhilarating things about the game is that the normal rules of social interaction are rubberized. Clarity is not the point. "Flirting opens a window of potential. Not yes, not no," says Perper. "So we engage ourselves in this complex game of maybe." The game is not new. The first published guide for how to flirt was written about 2,000 years ago, As dating books go, The Art of Love leaves more recent publications like The Layguide: How to Seduce Women More Beautiful Than You Ever Dreamed Possible No Matter What You Look Like or How Much You Make in its dust. And yes, that's a real book.

Once we've learned the game of maybe, it becomes second nature to us. Long after we need to play it, we're still in there swinging (so to speak) because we're better at it than at other games. Flirting sometimes becomes a social fallback position. "We all learn rules for how to behave in certain situations, and this makes it easier for people to know how to act, even when nervous," Just as we learn a kind of script for how to behave in a restaurant or at a business meeting, she suggests, we learn a script for talking to the opposite sex. "We often enact these scripts without even thinking," she says. "For some women and men, the script may be so well learned that flirting is a comfortable strategy for interacting with others." In other words, when in doubt, we flirt.
